Renowned BMW tuner Alpina has launched a hot version of the 3 Series, badged the B3 Bi-Turbo.
Alpina modified BMW's 3-litre inline six-cylinder engine and added twin turbochargers.
The tuned engine offers 265 kW at 5 500 to 6 000 r/min, as well as maximum torque of 500 Nm from 3 800 to 5 000 r/min.
The B3 comes with a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel.
According to Alpina the allure of the new B3 Bi-Turbo is found in its V8 like performance, but with the advantages of a much lighter and noticeably thriftier 3.0-litre straight-six, a six with an aluminium block and twin-turbo charging.
Alpina claims 0-100 km/h acceleration takes less than 4.9 seconds, and speed peaks at 285 km/h.
The car also has a 50/50 weight balance between front and rear axles in combination.
The tuner makes additional suspension modifications and fits 18-inch alloy wheels shod with Michelin tires; 19-inch combinations are optional.
