Abt takes to Audi's new coupe

The sleek and elegant new Audi A5 provided the canvas for tuner Abt Sportsline to work its own brand of magic.

Using the coupe as its basis, the Abt AS5's bespoke body kit has a front skirt with a grid element that highlights Audi's single frame grille.

At the rear, the skirt incorporates a diffuser and quad tailpipes.

Under the bonnet, the car's 3.0 TDI unit has been tweaked to develop 200 kW while an added Abt turbocharger ups this figure significantly.

Besides Audi's signature Quattro all-wheel drive system, the AS5 is also fitted with an adjustable sports suspension.

Braking is by means of a 380-mm Abt system, while wheel sizes on the AS5 vary from 18 to 20 inch.

The production A5 and S5 coupes were debuted at this year's Geneva Motor Show. Both models will be launched in South Africa in the first quarter of 2008.
