ZURICH, Switzerland - A Swiss driver caused a serious crash near the Swiss capital when he accidentally swallowed a cough drop, police reported.

The 45-year-old was driving in Lenzburg, near the Swiss capital Zurich, on Monday (Nov 10 2014) when the sweet caught in his airway, caused a coughing fit that cost him control of his vehicle.

His car rammed a metal post, hit a wall, flipped over and eventually came to a halt upside-down, 30m from the impact site.

The driver and his wife suffered minor injuries but police said the car was destroyed.
