Wild Clover Farm, on the R304 about two km from the N1 turnoff for Stellenbosch in the Western Cape, was the lunch venue for the Cape Multi-Motor Club (66 assorted clubs at last count), the premier marque for the event this time around being the Renault Car Club.

The Farm happens to also be the “home venue” of the Cape Jaguar Club, a delightful and friendly venue that doubles up as a micro-brewery – and there’s nothing like a beer-tasting half-hour to liven up any function!
About 30 classics of yesteryear made the trip, among them several Renaults – including Bobby Smith’s rare Caravelle two-door convertible, very desirable R8 Gordinis – still capable, I reckon, of giving modern day hatches a run for their money; an R10 sedan and a Dauphine – plus a goodly number of GSM (Glass Support Motors) ’54-’64 Flamingos and Neville Lomnitz’s outstanding 1982 Levy Dart in red livery.
Interspersed among the above beauties was a two-tone Sunbeam Tiger V8 that could have come straight off the race track, an immaculate Healey Sprite in yellow livery, and Dave Brown’s well-known Ford V6-powered Morgan.
