His real name is Guy Kilfoil, and he's communications manager at Chrysler South Africa. And what he was doing was demonstrating Chrysler's new Stow 'n Go system, which allows instant versatility from the big MPV, from full seven seats to just driver and passenger and a huge 4 550 litres of load capacity, with a dead flat floor.

Stow 'n Go is only available on the long wheelbase Grand Voyager, but it's a real revelation. You can have any combination of seats you choose, because they drop into the floor, each in its own under-foloor bin.

Or you can have all the seats upright, and gain an extra 360 litres of hidden space under the floor...

Each seat folds away virtually one-handed; the middle pair have fore-aft and recline ability,; and the rear bench can even be tilted backwards so you can sit comfortably under the rear lift-back and have a picnic.

Demand

Unique to the Chrysler Grand Voyager, this new seating system has been made available following unprecedented customer demand following its introduction in the company's North American markets earlier this year.

"This unique feature, a venerable automotive miracle, further strengthens our segment leading position in the market," explains Trent Barcroft, Divisional Manager: Chrysler and Jeep at DaimlerChrysler South Africa.

Stow 'n Go is a standard fitment on all Chrysler extended-wheelbase minivans sold in South Africa, namely the Chrysler Grand Voyager SE, LX and Limited. Chrysler also continues to offer two versions of its standard-wheelbase Voyager minivan, the SE and LX. All these versions are built in Graz, Austria.

In addition to Stow 'n Go on LWB models, the list of major new features on the refreshed Chrysler Voyager includes:Three-row, A to D-pillar side curtain air bags provide full-length coverage for all three rows of seats. The side curtain air bags protect all outboard passengers. Both sides have sensors, which trigger the air bag on the side where impact occurs.

Reminder

If a vehicle is driven without the driver being properly belted, the seat belt reminder system will periodically activate a chime and illuminate a light in the instrument cluster to remind the driver to buckle up.

The front exterior incorporates a new fascia, grille and quad headlights.

An interior overhead rail module, with up to six moveable and removable storage bins, and rear temperature controls, is now standard on the Grand Voyager Limited as well.

Limited models continue to feature powered sliding side doors and powered liftgate, with remote operation from the key-fob, for unique ease of accessibility to the passenger and cargo areas.

For the first time, the 2005 Chrysler Voyager also offers a navigation radio available as factory-installed or through Mopar as an aftermarket accessory.

This RB3 navigation radio system contains a navigation computer with 12.4 cm diagonal full-colour display, tuner and CD player all in one unit. Features include turn-by-turn route guidance navigation with voice instruction, seven different user languages, automatic re-route calculation and memory to store 50 custom user destinations.

The range

For 2005, Chrysler offers two versions of its standard-wheelbase Voyager minivan, the SE and LX. Three versions of the extended-wheelbase Grand Voyager minivan are available, the SE, LX and Limited.
