There's performance, then there's Jaguar

In mid-May 2015 the quiet road leading up to the Simola Golf and Country Estate above Knysna will transform into a motorsport spectacle.

The 2014 Hillclimb saw 11 222 people through the gate but even more are expected to line the 2015 course to hear the roar of some of the most powerful engines ever echoing from the hills.

Classic Car Friday will kick-start the event and 50 competitors will battle it out for first place in their historic machines.

UNDOUBTED HIGHLIGHT

Brace yourself for a wide variety of famous classics in action, among them the iconic Jaguar MK II and E-type, competing in categories ranging from pre-war all the way to 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s.

The highlight of the Jaguar Simola Hillclimb will doubt be the King of the Hill competition over May 16/17. In this no-holds-barred timed event all manner of machines will have a chance to go for glory in their respective class.

Production cars, from the ordinary to 400kW+ sports cars such as the Jaguar F-Type Coupé R, and purpose-built race cars boasting outputs of more than 700kW will thrill spectators as they scream up the hill for the coveted King of the Hill title.

DEFENDER RETURNS

The weekend will also see the running of the successful Jaguar Media Challenge, now in its second year. Five journalists will vie for the honour of being crowned South Africa’s fastest motoring scribe and having their name immortalised on the Alucat Cup.

The 2015 winner, Stuart Grant, will return to defend his title against four challengers. The challengers will be competing in the F-Type S Convertible, XF 2.2 Diesel, XF 2.0 Petrol, XF 3.0 Diesel and XF 3.0 V6 Supercharged.

The Simola Hillclimb is just another way in which Jaguar demonstrates that it has racing in its blood.  And whether you’re a petrol head, speed lover or just somebody who enjoys having a good time, the 2015 Jaguar Simola Hillclimb promises to have you racing back for more.
