Brazil qualifying... and guess who?

SAO PAULO, Brazil - Qualifying for the final race of the Formula 1 season, Brazil, was hard-hit by alternating heavy rain and then a nearly-dry track.

Lower sections of the undulating track quickly filled with water which eventually sent McLaren's Sergio Perez off the track and heavily into the wall. He walked away unhurt but the car was pretty much trashed.

SLASHING THROUGH THE RAIN

The first two quali sessions went by without a stop but as Quali 2 finished the weather closed in even more and there were several delays of 10 minutes each to the start of the final session. Conditions were simply too bad to risk cars - and possibly even iives.

Eventually the rain eased enough for the short Quali 3 and the cars went out, soon once again to be slashing through torrential rain, but quali finished with Sebastian Vettel once again on pole, followed Mercedes Nico Rosberg with Fernando Alonso third and Mark Webber fourth.

Bringing up the rear of the 10-pack will be, in order, Hamilton, Grosjean, Ricciardo, Vergne, Massa and Hulkenberg.
