Boy (7) chauffeurs drunk dad

SYDNEY, Australia - Australian police pulled over a seven-year-old boy who was chauffeuring his drunk father home.

A patrol car stopped the vehicle after spotting it driving without its headlights on Australia's Gold Coast at 3:00 am on June 21 2013.

Authorities report: "A man has been charged with serious traffic offences after police intercepted a car allegedly being driven by a seven-year-old boy at Surfers Paradise in the early hours of this morning."

'SHOCKED BY THE MADNESS'

The father has been charged with "dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and being an adult in charge under the influence of liquor."

The boy was sent to stay with relatives.

Queensland transport minister Scott Emerson said: "I shake my head and am shocked by the madness of this."

Royal Automobile Club Queensland senior road safety adviser, Joel Tucker, said: “Children at that age don't have the mental or physical capabilities to drive a car safely.

It is a real concern to hear that children were being put in that position.”
