New York - Police here have reported that an eight-year-old took his mother's car for a joyride through a suburb of Buffalo.
The boy drove around the neighbourhood, hitting several objects before his joyride ended on a neighbour's lawn.
HEAVY TRAFFIC
Police in the town of Cheektowaga said the boy would not be charged. The boy's mother said she woke up to find her son missing and called the police because she believed he had been kidnapped.
The boy said he came to a nearby road with heavy traffic and decided to turn around and head back home.
On the way back, he drove on to the kerb, knocked over a street sign, a fire hydrant and a fence, and eventually came to a stop in a neighbour's front garden.
