If you thought BMW was done with its front-wheel drive models, think again. Following its SA-bound 2 Series Active Tourer will be yet another family-orientated model, using the same platform but offering more space in the back.
Spy photographers spotted a seven-seat variant of the 2 Series Active Tourer. The new model is likely to be called the 2 Series Family Tourer.
The new model will have two extra seats in the back but looking at these photos, they seem just large enough for kids.
NEW BMW MPV
As in the case of the new X5; If you purchase optional extra seats in the boot, no adult will be able to sit there and call it “comfortable”.
Apart from extra seats and longer rear, it seems its design won’t differ too much from the 2 Series Active Tourer.

The Family Tourer will use the same engines from the Active Tourer, varying from 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engines to the range-topping 2-litre B48 motor that will be powering the 225i. BMW will also add xDrive versions.
The focus is on practicality, with the MPV being configured to have plenty of storage spaces, a low fuel consumption and low CO2 emissions.
