LAS VEGAS, Nevada - BMW unveiled a self-drifting car at the 2014 Las Vegas electronics show.
VIDEO: Self-drifting BMW 235i
The car, equipped with Active Assist, can drift through fast curves and slalom through a line of traffic cones. The prototype is a BMW 235i in which an engineer takes the vehicle on to the track, gets it up to speed and pushes a button to make the 235i fully self-operational.
'SELF-OPERATIONAL'
The 235i is fitted with a lidar (light detection and ranging) system, 360-degree radar, ultrasonic sensors and cameras that track the environment.
It has electronic braking, accelerator and steering, can perform precise lane changes and slide through curves without intervention by the human aboard.
