Riding BMW's 'green wave'

Imagine you're driving through the city and every traffic light you encounter happens to turn green as you approach. With BMW's traffic light assistant this could become a reality as the automaker invites drivers to "ride the "green wave".

The traffic light assistant project involves traffic lights transmitting information about their switching sequences. A proposal for an optimum speed is then given to drivers enabling them to take advantage of "a green wave”.

The system can also warn drivers if they are about to go through a red light so they can adjust their driving style to the lights' timing.
