LADYSMITH - Eight children died and six were critically injured when their taxi collided with a car, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Sunday morning.
The police spokesman said: "The taxi was transporting young children from a function [on Saturday] night when it collided with another car and veered into a river."
FATAL INJURIES, DROWNINGS
The children died of severe injuries and drowning, he said.
The accident happened between Bergville and Ladysmith after 6pm on Saturday.
"The driver was believed to be among those who died."
