2014 US MotoGP: How they finished

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - Honda's Marc Marquez continued his awesome run in the 2014 MotoGP series with yet another win - taking him to a perfect 10 from 10 - this time at Indianapolis in the US.

Marquez is now the first rider in 17 years to win 10 successive races; that record had been held by Australian Mick Doohan since 1997.

He played his usual waiting game until the last dozen laps when he swept past from third after a raging battle with Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha), Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) and Honda team mate Dani Pedrosa.

POOR CROWD

He quickly pulled away, eventually crossing the line 1.803sec ahead of second-placed Lorenzo. Third was Rossi, 6.558sec down and fourth Pedrosa, 10.010sec off the winner's pace.

Reports said there were 60 000 people watching the world's best motorcyclists but the stands, particularly along the start/finish straight, looked disappointingly empty.

Though Rossi was only third, he became the first rider in history to accumulate 4000 premier class points.
