2012 GT Academy: Final qualifying

CAPE TOWN - Earlier in the 2012 Nissan Playstation GT Academy 2012 round began as players from all over the world compete for their chance to become a professional driver.

In November 2012, the final qualifying rounds of the 2012 series began. Players can win a comprehensive racing driver development programme and an entry into the Silverstone 24 Hours race in a Nissan 370Z.

The final two rounds of the GT Academy 2012 qualifying demo are split into five challenges as players navigate a Nissan 370Z and GT-R through a variety of circuits.

NATIONAL FINALS

The final challenge will see players navigate a one-lap time trial on the Motegi Twin Ring short course. Lap times from this final challenge will create the GT Academy "leaderboard" for each country with the top competitors then being invited to take part in phase two of the competition - live "National Finals" events.

The leaderboards will be displayed here

Winners of the regional finals will be invited to race camps at the Silverstone circuit. Only one driver will be chosen for the driver programme in preparation for the Silverstone 24 Hours.

PS3 owners in participating countries can still enter the GT Academy 2012 until December 10 2012. Entrants have to download the specially designed Gran Turismo demo from the PlayStation Store and complete all of the rounds before tackling the final time trial.

To stand a chance entrants must complete a registration process.

Residents from South Africa who are over 21-years-old and have a driving licence and no previous motor sport experience are eligible to enter the competition.

The current GT Academy winners from the European, German, Russian and United States competitions have just completed the driver development programme and will head into 2013 hoping to prove they have made the leap from virtual game to race track as they contest the Dubai 24 Hours in Nissan 230Z GT4 cars.
