The Ikon 1.3iL is priced at R88 525 and comes with a 1.3-litre SOHC - EFI engine, with two valves per cylinder, for instance.

This Rocam engine, which delivers both power and torque at lower engine revs, produces 55 kW of power and 110 Nm of torque.

Furthermore, this computer-controlled engine boasts improved driveability across its rev range.

The injection system on the Ikon 1.3iL translates into better fuel consumption. The engine is coupled to a five-speed manual gearbox.

This budger car comes with independent MacPherson struts with offset coil spring/damper units and lower L-arms in optimised vertical bushes mounted on separate sub-frame and an anti-roll bar do duty up-front, while semi-independent twist-beam with strut-type coil spring/damper units sort out the rear.

In terms of breaking power tt has ventilated discs up front and drums at the rear make.

    Service intervals for the Ikon are 15 000 km while long-life spark plugs help to minimise running costs as do a maintenance-free camshaft drive and valve clearances. It comes with a three-year/100 000km warranty. Ford Protect Roadside Assistance (applicable for three years, unlimited kilometres) is also free of charge.
