BMW South Africa announced its 8 Series Coupe and Convertible will arrive in March 2019. Only one engine derivative would be available in M850i xDrive form with claimed power outputs of 390kW and 700Nm.
But the 8 Series wouldn't be complete without a performance version, called the M8. Likely to use a version of the 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged engine from the M5, the coupe will make its debut in 2019.
Expect over 450kW
The M8 decked out in camoflauge was spotted during industry pool testing at the Nurburgring in Germany. Power will rise to over 450kW and the M8 will also be four-wheel drive to make sure the power is easier to tap into.
BMW's flagship performance M car will tackle the Mercedes-AMG GT63 and Porsche's Panamera Turbo.
