VW revives Dune Beetle for SA: Prices, pics

Cape Town - Volkswagen has revived its Beetle Baja Bug with the launch of its new Dune model - the first crossover Beetle derivative in more than 80 years.

The Dune, debuted at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, has 18" alloys wider and raised body, reviving the characteristics of VW's iconic dune buggies.

Growing trends

Compared to the standard Beetle it has new bumpers, diffusers, black off-road accents, new exterior colours, rear spoiler and redesigned LEDs. Ground clearance has also increased by 14mm compared to other Beetle derivatives to improve all-terrain performance.

It should be noted that this is not an off-road vehicle but more akin to its siblings the Cross Polo and Cross Caddy.
