Cape Town - Toyota's back-to-basics rear-drive, front-engined sports car the 86 has undergone a mid-life facelift.
The new model launches locally in mid-April and we have pricing ahead of its media unveiling in Johannesburg next week.
Local launch is imminent
As before, there are three models, all powered by the same 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated Boxer (horizontally opposed) engine. Sadly, the power figures haven't increased, they offer 147kW/205Nm.
The entry-level Standard model, which uses a six-speed manual transmission, retails for R449 600. The rest of the range is decked out in High trim, expect niceties like heated seats, cruise control, LED headlights and a multi-function steering wheel.
There are two gearbox options with the latter models: six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic. The manual version retails at R494 900 and the automatic for R519 400.
Pricing:
86 2.0 Standard - R449 900
86 2.0 High - R494 900
86 2.0 High auto - R519 400
