Pretoria - Jaguar has fitted a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine into its F-Type. But don't scoff at its diminutive cubic capacity just yet, this forced induction engine produces 221kW and 400Nm – the most powerful four-cylinder engine ever fitted to a production Jaguar.
The entry-level F-Type models go on sale in Mzansi from the third quarter of 2017.
Rear-wheel drive layout
The automaker quotes a 0-100km/h sprint time of 5.7 seconds, and the least powerful F-Type will reach a top speed of 250km/h.
The 2.0-litre Coupé is priced at R953 400, and Convertible starts at R971 000.
The engine uses a twin-scroll turbocharger which Jag says offers near-instantaneous boost pressure, and very little turbo lag.
R-Dynamic derivatives offer more kit
Jag offers the entry-level F-Type with a tuned active exhaust as standard, while R-Dynamic variants feature a switchable active exhaust for a more involved driving experience.
The automaker will also offer R-Dynamic models which feature additional specification, including 19” wheels, full LED headlights, different bumpers and side sills, as well as gloss black interior trim finishers.
Standard features on all models include: new slimline sports seats, six-way electric seats, InControl Touch Pro, Navigation Pro, Meridian audio and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
