Porsche's stunning electric Taycan will begin production in 2019 but already many are hoping to place orders for the brand's first EV sports car

Porsche will begin production on its first fully-electric vehicle, the Taycan, 2019 though there has already been great interest from potential buyers of the EV sports car.

Previously known as the Mission E, it has a range of over 482km, produces more than 447kW and accelerate from 0-100km/h in under 3.5 seconds.

Due to popular demand

The Taycan will go up the against Tesla's model S sedan and according Porsche's head of electric vehicles, Stefan Weckbach, it will be able to sustain performance better than its rival.

According to Business Insiderthe car is expected to have other high-tech features, like a digital instrument panel that mirrors the driver's movements and a dashboard that drivers can control with gestures through a holographic display.

The Taycan forms part of Porsche's electric strategy, investing over $7-billion in electric vehicles and technology by 2022

Pricing for the Taycan will start from $75 000.
