Opel begins production of SA-bound Mokka X

Zaragoza, Spain - Opel's first Mokka X has rolled off the production line at its factory in Zaragoza, Spain.

The Mokka X is expected to arrive  in South Africa by November 2016 though will only reach dealers in January 2017.

Karl-Thomas Neumann, chairman of the management board of Opel Group, said: "The adaptation of the Spanish plant for the launch of the Opel Mokka and now the new Mokka X has been executed perfectly. This was achieved in a record time thanks to excellent planning, good coordination between all parties involved and thanks to the commitment of all employees.”

With more than 600 000 orders across Europe since its debut in 2012, the Opel Mokka is one of the most popular SUVs in its segment, says the automaker.

The new Mokka X gains sporty design elements and new interior enchantments compared to the standard SUV.

The Mokka X, says the automaker, represents a further important step in the biggest product offensive in the history of Opel/Vauxhall. From 2016 through 2020 the company will introduce 29 new models.
