Nissan's new Micra Active launched in SA

Rosslyn - Nissan has launched its new Micra Active which gains sporty exterior upgrades as well as higher levels of interior specification.

The next-generation Micra is set to arrive in South Africa in 2018. Until then, fans of the cute city car will have the option of the sporty Active version. The single derivative, the Visia priced at R159 900, retains the current 1.2-litre petrol engine capable of 56kW/104Nm, mated to a manual transmission.

Sporty tweaks, standard kit

The grille has been redesigned to host the circular badge in chromed V-shaped motif. The bonnet, front fenders, headlights and front and rear bumpers also have a refreshed design. Inside it benefits from a new fabric design, new centre cluster and refreshed instrument panel.

The Micra Active has manual aircon, front power windows, Bluetooth with audio streaming, a 12V power socket, steering-wheel adjustment and foldable rear seats.

In terms of safety ABS, EBD and Brake Assist, driver and passenger airbags, Isofix child-seat anchorage in the second row, rear headrests, rear fog lights, remote central locking, speed-sensitive auto door lock and an immobiliser.

According to Nissan SA: "The first Micra Actives being sold in South Africa will also benefit from the addition of touch-screen navigation and an infotainment system, which has been fitted as an added accessory at no additional cost to the customer. The system comes with TomTom mapping with live traffic; Bluetooth hands-free music streaming; USB input; a built-in music hard drive and it’s compatible with all iPhone/iPod models.

"The touch screen navigation and infotainment system can now play a host of audio formats, including CD, VDC, DVD, MP3, MP4 and Div-X."

Accessories, optional extras

Optional extras include a reverse camera, tyre pressure monitoring system and reversing parking sensors. The Trendsetter Pack has smoky black alloy wheels, a chrome exhaust finish, a rear spoiler and mud guards.

The Micra Active, costs R159 900, comes with a class-leading 3-year or 90 000km service plan and a 6-year or 150 000km warranty.
