Monstrous Mercedes-AMG E63 S now available in SA

Cape Town - The Mercedes-AMG E63 S 4Matic+, the most powerful E-Class yet, is now available to order locally.

This E63 S will feature four-wheel drive for the first time in the car's lineage. The price of this madness? R1 868 400.

Mercedes South Africa said that it has no plans to bring the 'lesser' E63 4Matic+ to the country.

450kW. Boom!

With the new generation of the E63 S 4Matic+, Mercedes-AMG aims to take the driving limits of the performance sedan to a completely new level. The vehicle's beating heart is a powerful 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine.

The E63 S 4Matic+ achieves a new peak power of 450kW. This makes the V8 the most powerful engine to have ever been installed in an E-Class. At the same time, says Merc, thanks to the AMG cylinder management intelligent cylinder shut-off system, it has been possible to increase the efficiency of the engine significantly.

By accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in 3.4 seconds, the new executive sedan is also one of the fastest - if not the fastest - in its class.

The AMG Performance 4 Matic+ all-wheel drive is a completely new development combining various drive configurations in one. Merc says torque distribution on the front and rear axles is fully variable for the first time. The automaker also claims that this setup ensures optimum traction, whatever the road conditions.

A further highlight is the AMG Speedshift MCT (Multi Clutch Technology) nine-speed sports transmission; combined for the first time with a wet start-up clutch.
