Modena, Italy - Maserati has given the first glimpse of its Levante, the first SUV in the automaker's history.
Earlier in January 2016, Wheels24 spotted the new Levante undergoing testing in South Africa.
Maserati South Africa says its new Levante is expected to arrive locally in 2016.
Headed for Geneva
The Levante, built at Maserati's Mirafiori plant in Turin, sports an assertive front with tapered headlights, separated into two units, with the upper headlight unit connected to the radiator grille.

According to the automakers: "Maserati's design signature is clearly visible on the sides: the three iconic air vents on the front fender, the trapezoidal C-pillar with the 'Saetta' logo and the large, frameless door windows."
The Levante's chassis, Maserati says, is designed to combine "outstanding on-road performance that is typical of every Maserati with unrivalled handling, even on very low-grip surfaces as well as excellent off-road performance and ride."
It terms of engine it sports both petrol and diesel options. The SUV is equipped with electronic suspension setting with controlled damping and air springs with variable settings, “Q4” intelligent all-wheel drive and an eight-speed auto specially calibrated for Maserati's first SUV.
