Cape Town - Earlier in 2016, Wheels24 spotted the Maserati Levante, the automaker's first SUV, clad in camouflage, undergoing testing in Fraschoek, Western Cape.
The Italian automaker is eager to grab its share of the luxury SUV market, dominated by Porsche's Cayenne.
With the South African launch of the new SUV imminent, Maserati has confirmed to Wheels24 that only a solitary derivative will be available to local buyers.
202kW-version only
The Levante will be powered by a 3.0-litre diesel engine, we'll only be receiving the high-powered 202kW version. Torque is rated at 600Nm, with a 0-100km/h sprint completed in 6.9 seconds.
Top speed is a claimed 230km/h.
As for the price? Maserati SA said the Levante will be priced from R1 650 000.
