Little Fiat 595 Abarth aims to make a big splash in SA

Cape Town - Fiat Chrysler Automobile’s Abarth range has been bolstered locally with the arrival of the all-new Abarth 595 range.

Three derivatives will be available; the 595, 595 Turismo and 595 Competizione, as well as two body styles: “Tin Top” and “Cabriolet”.

Engine

All Abarth 595 derivatives are powered by Fiat’s 1.4-litre T-Jet engine, each with their own specific outputs and driving through either manual or sequential automatic transmissions.

The standard Abarth 595 engine produces 106kW/206Nm, the 595 Turismo engine produces 121kW/230Nm, and the top-of-the-range 595 Competizione engine produces 132kW/250Nm.

Exterior and interior

The 595 comes in 15 exterior paint shades in solid, metallic and bi-colour schemes - as well as colour coded front and rear bumper inserts, mirror covers and decal sets in either white, red or black. The front and rear light clusters are new and are now also equipped with polyelliptical headlights and LED daytime lights.

The Abarth 595 also comes with 11-wheel choice options available in 16” or 17” rims.

All models are equipped with aircon, electric windows and central locking with remote function, 7” TFT digital display, Uconnect 5” radio with Bluetooth and steering wheel controls. Fiat says the Abarth Turismo and Competizione will, for the first time, feature the BeatsAudio system with seven speakers. This sound system has been developed in collaboration with Beats by Dr. Dre.

Standard safety features found in all Abarth 595 models include five airbags, ABS with electronic brake distribution (EBD), electronic stability control (ESC) and anti-slip regulation (ASR) with hill holder function and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
