Cape Town - Lexus has launched its new RC 200t in South Africa, confident its new model will appeal to a younger market.
Glenn Crompton, vice-president of marketing for Lexus, said: “Cars like the RC exist not as volume cars but as aspirational products designed to draw in the young and the young at heart.
“In this context the new RC 200t fits the brief perfectly - it’s stylish, refined, frugal and generously stocked with a pleasing athleticism to it.”

In addition to the RC 200t, a RC 350F Sport is also available. Prices for the two models come in at R699 100 and R787 600, respectively. A four-year or 100 000km Lexus Distance Plan Plus maintenance plan comes as standard.
Smooth lines
The RC 200t boasts a swooping roofline that accentuates the coupe-profile, with L-shaped tail lights extending towards the centre apron of the car. Rounding off the RC’s profile are EX-exclusive five-spoke 18” alloys with a bi-tone finish.
Life on the inside
Leather power seats offer eight-way adjustability for the driver and six-way adjustment for the front passenger. Seat heating and ventilation are available on both seats.
Lexus’ Smart Entry system allows key-less access to lock and unlock the vehicle, and the engine, too, is ignited by pressing a button.

Satellite navigation and a full-colour information screen come as standard.
The drivetrain
Powering the RC 200t is Lexus’ 2.0-litre twin-scroll turbocharged petrol engine mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
The engine delivers 180kW/350Nm, which allows a 0-100km/h time of 7.5 seconds. Top speed is claimed at 230km/h.
Lexus claims a fuel return of 8.0-litres/100km and CO2 emissions of 186g/km.
The multi-link front suspension and double wishbone rear suspension from the Lexus GS forms the base of the RC. Suspension at the front has been stiffened by 15% over the GS.
