VW boosts Passat range

accreditation

Since its international debut in March 2005, the new Passat has established itself as a major contender in the luxury middle class saloon category.

In South Africa, the new Passat was one of the eight 2006 Car of the Year finalists.

"Considering that we launched new Passat with only three models - the 2l FSI 110kW, the 1.9 TDi 77kW and the 2l TDi 103kW derivatives, we are very happy with the sales performance of the all-new Passat thus far" says Mike Glendinning, director sales and marketing Volkswagen South Africa.

"We now complete the range by introducing the all-new Sportline models."

The two new models are the 2-litre Passat Turbo FSI Tiptronic Sportline with a power output of 147 kW at 5 100 r/min and 280 Nm of torque at 1 800 r/min.

The new range topper is the 3.2 V6 Sportline offering an impressive 184 kW at 6 200 r/min and 320 Nm at 3 200 r/min.

Permanent 4-wheel drive (4 Motion) is standard.
