VW SA's limited Polo Vivo: Shiny, new Eclipse

Volkswagen has bolstered its best-selling Polo Vivo range with the launch of a new special edition - the Eclipse.

The Polo Vivo Eclipse is available in both hatch and sedan guise body variants and offered in either black or white.

The special edition Eclipse is fitted with a 1.4 petrol engine capable of 63kW/132Nm and a five-speed manual gearbox.

EXTERIOR TWEAKS

The special edition comes with silver external mirrors, 16" Mistral alloy rims, 'Eclipse' badging, lowered suspension and chromed strips on the boot and sides.

It has unique trim - VW SA calls it Global - that includes partial leather on the steering wheel and gear knob and a grey centre console.

VW SA says it expects to sell about 75 a month. Director of sales and marketing, Petra Hoffmann, added: "The Polo Vivo offers excellent value for money without compromising on core product essentials that customers expect from VW. In a Polo Vivo, customers are getting an A-class car for the price of an A0-segment vehicle, a difficult proposition to ignore in this heavily contested segment of the market.

"It also has class-leading residual value in its segment in the used-car market and the cost-of-ownership over three-years makes it one of the cheapest cars to own in the South Africa market."

PRICES
Polo Vivo Eclipse hatch - R168 600
Polo Vivo Eclipse sedan - R174 600

The Eclipse is sold with a three-year or 120 000km warranty and a six-year anti-corrosion warranty. A five-year or 60 000km maintenance plan and five-year or 60 000km service plan are optional.

Service intervals 15 000km.
