Exterior changes and upgrades for the 2005 Santa Fe include a new grille, refined body, side cladding, new tail lights, redesigned tailgate handle, new rear bumper design, and newly designed 16-inch alloy wheel design.

The Santa Fe is fitted with climate controlled air conditioning, ABS with traction control and EBD, and new fashionable 16-inch wheels and tyres.

Interior upgrades for 2005 include a new instrument cluster, new fashionable leather designed seats, and a richer-looking two-tone color scheme.

The new Santa Fe also offers a power-operated sunroof and an electro-chromic rear view mirror.

The 2005 Santa Fe is powered by the versatile 2.7-liter, all-aluminum, 24-valve, DOHC V6 engine that produce 130kw@6000RPM and 255Nm@4000RPM. The 2.7-liter V6 is designed with a 4-speed automatic transmission fitted with Shiftronic manual control.

The 2.7-liter V6 Santa Fe in South Africa is equipped with Fulltime four-wheel-drive, that transmits power to the wheels through a four-wheel-drive system via the Dual Drive Differential that features two planetary gears and a viscous coupling.

The Fulltime 4WD system is designed to deliver 60 % of the power to the front wheels and 40 % to the rear wheels. This 4WD system is driver-friendly and fully automatic and the mechanical fulltime 4WD system requires no input from the driver.

The standard, new-design 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels fitted with 225/70R-16 tires give the Santa Fe an aggressive stance.
