Tough Mahindra hits town

The introduction of the Bolero Load-Runner follows hot on the heels of the launch of the revamped Scorpio SUV in South Africa, as well as the global launch of the Scorpio Pik-Up model range in this country in April.

This no-frills derivative joins Mahindra South Africa's current Bolero range that includes four 2.5-litre diesel double and single cab, 4x4 and 4x2, model derivatives.

The Bolero-range has been highly successful since its launch 22 months ago, and has been specifically popular with farmers, mining companies and entrepreneurs.

Mahindra says the Bolero Load-Runner was built to last and created to work. The load box, with a capacity of 1.679 m³, is both large and strong, with double wall construction for increased durability and protection.

It's powered by a 2 498 cm³ four-cylinder turbo-charged intercooled diesel engine, which delivers maximum power of 74 kW at 4 150 r/min and a maximum torque of 235 Nm at a low 1 800 r/min.

Power steering is standard, and the turning circle is 11.4 m.

The Load-Runner's workhorse capability is enhanced by its comfortable, yet practical vinyl seating, and it's fitted with rubber flooring throughout its interior.

The vehicle can carry a maximum payload of almost one ton (985 kg), and has a useful 185 mm of ground clearance. Brakes are disc front, drum rear.

Mahindra vehicles are also covered by a 2 year roadside assistance AA membership along with medical backing in case of emergencies.
