New Toyota a moving billboard

A car that doubles as an easel in your mixed-media life would be rather cool, wouldn’t it? Toyota reckons it has the answer in its Fun-Vii concept at the 2011 Tokyo auto show.

Fun-Vii (it stands for Vehicle, interactive, internet) is one of several TOyota concepts being shown at tTokyo from today under the banner “Fun to drive. Again”. The production version of the automaker's 86 sports coupe will also be on show.

This Vii concept, however, is said to offer the best yet in car personalisation. It offers drivers the ability to change how the interior or exterior is displayed, simply by downloading an 'app'.

MOOD DRIVEN

Toyota fun-Vii

SPACE AGE: The Fun-Vii's smooth, slabby surfaces provide a perfect space for image displays.

The interior can be adjusted to suit the mood of the moment and the car’s navigation information is blended into the interior through what Toyota calls “augmented reality”. The car even has a “navigation concierge” to provide driving information and route guidance through the car's audio system.

The three-seater’s entire body can be used as a display space, which means you can doll it up with any messages or images you want.

The Fun-Vii also comes with a network update function, much like your smart phone, to ensure the car’s software is always up to date and it can link with other vehicles and infrastructure to communicate detected possible hazards.

No technical specifications for Toyota's Fun-Vii concept were made available by the automaker.
