UPDATED LOOKS, MORE 'COMFORT'
The 2.3-litre MZR Disi Turbo engine continues to channel 190kW/380Nm to the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission (now with wider gear ratios) and a limited-slip differential.
The dual exhaust pipes are said to be muted by as much as 10dB at engine speeds beyond 5000rpm. According to Mazda, this is to improve comfort levels of when driving on open roads.
The facelifted Mazda3 MPS is said to retain its “responsive handling and performance” although in a snazzier body. Changes include a new gunmetal finish for the 18” alloy rims, while the wing mirror housings and lower rear bumper trim sport a 'Black Mica' finish.
For enhanced safety, the Mazda3 MPS comes with bi-xenon headlights paired to an adaptive front light system, front fog lamps and rear park distance control and larger 320mm diameter ventilated front disc brakes.
Mazda SA has confirmed the facelifted Mazda3 MPS is on its way to South Africa; it should be here by the end of 2012.
