SA gets Ford's 245kW SUV beast

Ford has given the Territory SUV some potent turbo muscle featuring 245 kW of sizzling power.

The turbo-charged Territory joins Ford's performance range as the newcomer also gets the sporty ST badge.

According to Ford enhancements introduced on the recently upgraded Territory range will also feature on the Territory ST, including a new six-speed automatic transmission and on-board reverse camera as standard.

Propelled by a powerful 4.0-litre turbocharged powertrain, the Territory ST produces a maximum power output of 245 kW available at 5 250 r/min and reaches a torque peak of 480 Nm at 2 000 r/min.

According to Ford their engineers challenged themselves to create a revised DSC system to integrate into the turbo Territory program to cater for all driving styles.

With this in mind Ford says it developed a DSC calibration that allows the sports enthusiast driver to enjoy the full benefits of the vehicle's additional performance, while also providing the right level of driver assistance for all drivers.

The Territory ST's sporty nature is accentuated in the exterior styling. It comes with a bonnet scoop, dual exhaust outlets and five spoke 18-inch alloys.
