LONDON, England - Mini adds a seventh model to its John Cooper Works range with the reveal of its JCW Paceman .
The automaker claims its Paceman JCW is the first Sports Activity Coupé in its class with a powertrain and chassis developed through its extensive motorsport expertise and ALL4 all-wheel drive.
The new model is set to reach South Africa by June 2013.
PACEMAN WITH RACING FLAIR
The model is powered by a 1.6 four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine capable of 160kW/280Nm. Torque can be increased to 300Nm for short periods from 2100-4500rpm via the overboost function.
The engine is mated to a six-speed manual though a six-speed auto is available as an option. The JCW Paceman sprints from 0-100km/h in 6.9 seconds (with either gearbox) to a top speed of 226km/h (manual) or 224km/h (auto).
Fuel consumption is rated at 7.4 litres/100km (7.9 litres/100km for the auto) with CO2 emissions of 172g/km (184g/km on the auto).
Engine sends power to all four wheels courtest of Mini's ALL4 all-wheel-drive system which uses an electromagnetic centre differential to distribute drive seamlessly between the front and rear axles.

Chassis modifications to the JCW model include tuned springs and dampers, strengthened anti-roll bars, a 10-mm lower ride height and a braking system with red callipers.
The Dynamic Stability Control system comprises of a DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) mode and the standard Sport which allows the driver to tweak engine responses as well as the steering.
CHILI RED AERO KIT
The model sports an aerodynamic kit, lowered sports suspension and 18" light-alloy rims.
The model retains its practicality with 330 litres of boot space. The two rear seat backrests can be folded down, increasing the amount of load space to 1080 litres.
Inside, the JCW Paceman has sports seats, leather steering wheel, black interior trim and roof liner and dark-coloured dials.
