GENEVA, Switzerland - The Jeep Renegade Hard Steel Jeep show car will debut at the 2015 Geneva auto show.
It was created by the Jeep brand in collaboration with Mopar and backed by the FCA style centre, the showcar "explores" the potential of a model that provides customisation options while providing an outlook for potential future Mopar accessories dedicated to the new Renegade.
The "techno" aspect of the vehicle is attained with brushed-steel livery, a bodywork treatment that evokes cutting-edge aviation and marine technology.
The same strong customisation is found in the cabin where the brushed-steel treatment embellishes the aircon vents, gearbox, glove compartment and speakers.
INTERNET HOT SPOT
The developers say special mention goes to the Renegade hard-steel upholstery proposed in a precious Frau Century lead-coloured leather: a novelty in the automotive field. In particular, the high-quality coating, designed to celebrate the brand's 1912 centenary, has been accomplished through intricate craftsmanship.
The Renegade version has adopted larger BF Goodrich All-Terrain tyres, raised suspension and a skid plate engraved with "Trailhawk". The report says the vehicle is made more attractive by the presence of original accessories such as a Mopar grille and opaque black mirror covers, black running board, mats and towball.
It's connected to a trailer that incorporates the vehicle "vitamin-enriched" design and becomes an "internet hot spot" thanks to the wifi developed by Mopar.
AVAILABLE FROM JUNE 2015
The trailer carries a a touch-screen display for all the features of the new Uconnect Live system, a service platform that allows access to internet music (Deezer), internet radio (TuneIn), news (Reuters), current traffic (Tom Tom LIVE) information as well as Facebook and Twitter.
It will all be available from June on the Renegade model - the first Jeep to provide this - a sophisticated infotainment system with UconnectTM five or 6.5" touch screens ensuring access to radio, media player, hands-free phone, navigation device and Uconnect Liveservices.
