Porsche has revealed its new SUV to slot beneath the successful Cayenne in the sports-car maker’s line-up.
The Macan was previously known as the Cajun and Porsche confirmed it will be launched in 2013. It will be produced at the Porsche plant in Leipzig.
Bernhard Maier, Porsche AG’s executive vice-president for sales and marketing, said: "The Macan combines all sports-car characteristics with the benefits of an SUV and is a genuine Porsche."
NUMBER 6
The Macan, which takes its name from the Indonesian word for tiger, will be the sixth model in the Porsche line-up alongside the 911, Cayman, Boxster, Cayenne and Panamera.
It is a key pillar in the Zuffenhausen-based automaker’s Strategy 2018 targeting a wider model portfolio and more sales.
