Porsche’s new Cayenne and Cayenne GTS will celebrate their world premieres at the 2014 Los Angeles auto show from November 19 and Porsche SA says both will be available to order from November 2014 with pricing from R852 000 for the base version to R1 176 000 for the GTS.

The Cayenne GTS has a 3.6-litre V6 bi-turbo engine, an enhancement of that in the latest Cayenne S. Compared to the previous V8 non-turbo unit, power us up by 30kW (from 298kW) to 328kW and torque by 85Nm (from 515Nm) to 600Nm.

The Cayenne GTS can accelerates to 100km/h in 5.2sec, or clip off a tenth with the optional Sport Chrono package. That's 0.5 and 0.6sec quicker than the previous model. Top speed: 262 km/h.

The GTS has a sports exhaust system and  'active suspension management' shock-absorbers, along with the standard steel-spring suspension, and so sits 24mm lower than its sisters. Additional kits include brakes from the Cayenne Turbo (390mm discs front, 358mm rear) with red callipers.

There's a "turbo" nose with large air-intakes and a sport package that includes more-contoured sills, wheel-arch extensions, spoiler and lower rear. It also has black lettering, 20” alloy rims in an “RS Spyder design” and black exhausts. It has black bi-xenon headlights, darkened LED's at the rear. New GTS lettering can be seen on the front doors.

Inside it benefits from eight-way electrically adjustable leather GTS sports seats with GTS lettering on the head restraints. Alcantara is dominant throughout. The interior GTS package is optionally available in red or silver with rev counter, decorative stitching, head-restraint lettering and seat belts in contrasting colours.

The new entry-level Cayenne is powered by a 3.6-litre V6 capable of 223kW, 0-100 in 7.7sec (7.6 with chrono package) and 230-km/h.

The base variant has stop/start and thermal management resulting in a claimed fuel consumption decrease of 0.7-litres/100 to 9.2 with emissions of 215g/km (21g/km less than the previous version).

Compared to the model it replaces, the new Cayenne gains an eight-speed Tiptronic S gearbox with auto stop/start and coasting functions, bi-xenon lights with four-point LED's, multi-function sports steering-wheel (with gearshift paddles) and a powered tail hatch.
