No really, this new hatchback in SA is called the Swag

Cape Town - Chery has launched a special edition version of its J2 hatchback which, the automaker says, is aimed at younger car-buyer looking for a "stylish car that makes a statement about its owner as being independent, sporty and a person with an active lifestyle".

To help attract young SA car-buyers, Chery has gone for a trendy nomenclature for its limited edition hatch - the Swag.

As befits its name, Chery says the new model is "feature-packed" and is priced at R154 900.

Loads of swag

The Swag is fitted with 17" ten-spoke alloy rims, an F1-X exhaust tailpipe end and leather interior. It's equipped with aircon, power windows (front and rear), power steering, touchscreen, satnav, Bluetooth with streaming capability, USB and MP3 connectivity and a six-speaker audio system.

The J2 Swag is powered by a 1.5-litre unit capable of 72kW.

In terms of safety it has dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, remote central locking, alarm/immobiliser and follow-me-home headlights.

The J2 Swag is sold with a five-year/120 000km warranty, two-year or 30 000km service plan and five-year roadside assistance.

GOT-IT-ALL ATTITUDE: Chery SA sales and marketing manager, Pedro Pereira, said: “We believe that in the Chery J2 Swag we are making an exceptional value-for-money offer with a car that says it all in terms of attitude.” Image: Chery SA
