Next Fiesta big on style, space

Ford’s new Fiesta is said to deliver large-car space and quality in a small-car package so the automaker put together a series of challenges for its new hatch.

In line with the current automotive trend of downsizing, the Fiesta, according to Ford, sets a new quality benchmark for the small-car segment.

SMALL CAR, BIG ATTITUDE

Ernst Reim, chief interior designer for Ford of Europe, said: “The new Fiesta takes craftsmanship and ergonomics to the next level in the small-car segment, and will shift customer perceptions of what a small car should deliver.”

The Fiesta's appearance is dominated by a trapezoidal front grille, power-dome bonnet design and headlamps with LED daytime running lamps. It’ll also be offered in a range of vibrant colours, including new Copper Pulse, Hot Mustard and Candy Blue.

Inside the cabin, Ford has relocated the electric window switches and interior door handles in the hatchback. A full leather-rim steering wheel is offered for the first time and a new 5” colour display supports the model’s first integrated navigation system.

The instrument panel features high-gloss finish that is replicated in the door panels, while satin-chrome detailing used for the dials and switches.

This Fiesta also offers new and improved storage features. A concealed load space is introduced in the boot which has an adjustable floor height for loading heavy or bulky items. A new central armrest also provides additional storage and door pockets are larger than before.

The latest Ford Fiesta will be launched in South Africa in 2013.
