Astra sedan, Meriva turbo, Opel Corsa facelift and Nurburgring
edition... Opel is making a comeback in South Africa with the launch of
four models. To aid its resurgence, the automaker has bolstered its
ageing Corsa range with the addition of a new 1.4 turbo!
Opel hopes to rekindle its Corsa range (at least until it can introduce a new model) with changes to the standard specifications of the entire line-up and the addition of a new 1.4 turbocharged petrol.

According to Opel: “Changes to the vehicle specification have been implemented to rationalise the range and improve its value offering, while the new turbo model is geared towards efficiency, increased engine performance, and a reduced environmental footprint.”
TURBO POWER
Powering the Corsa Turbo Enjoy is a new 1.4 turbocharged petrol capable of 88kW/175Nm and mated to a five-speed manual. Fuel consumption is listed as 5.5 litres/100km with emissions of 129 g/km. The new model benefits from stop/start.
Standard kit include anti-lock braking with electronic brake pressure distribution, two airbags, aircon, remote central locking, 16” alloys, colour-coded trim, a chromed exhaust and interior detailing.
Supplementing the standard kit, the entire Corsa range is now available with an upgraded audio system with Bluetooth and USB.
'REFINING CORSA RANGE'
Chris Cradock, Opel brand manager at General Motors SA, said: “The refinement of the Opel Corsa range in South Africa is intended to increase the appeal of the Corsa brand with buyers looking for an efficient, safe and refined hatchback.
“The introduction of the new Corsa 1.4 Turbo is in line with Opel’s trend of using small but efficient turbocharged powertrains to improve efficiency without compromising on performance. We firmly believe that this engine will give the Corsa an edge when compared to smaller-engined offerings from competitors in this segment, particularly at high altitude.”
