The Beatles have always had a significant following of fans and now they’ve got another reason to get into a Volkswagen Beetle with the introduction, in Europe, of the Volkswagen Beetle Fender limited edition.
It's been created in conjunction with the eponymous guitar-maker. We hope buyers drive carefull - you wouldn't want to bend a Fender.
The limited-edition Beetle Fender comes with an two-litre TDI 104kW engine connected to either a six-speed manual or DSG gearbox.
Like the cover of Spinal Tap’s infamous album Smell The Glove, it is available in just one colour – black – with a rear spoiler, 18" alloy rims and a Fender badge on each front, er, fender.
ROCKING OUT
Once inside, the guitar connection becomes clear: each model comes with a dash panel in vibrant “sunburst” wood, just like a classic Fender guitar. Then there's an incredible 400W Fender sound system, complete with a sub-woofer in the boot and illuminated front speaker mountings.
It also comes with an RCD 510 audio unit with full-colour touchscreen and multi-device interface, 2Zone aircon, front and rear parking sensors, diode headlights and “Cheyenne” cloth seats with leather-look bolsters.
The Beetle Fender costs the equivalent of about R319 000 for the manual model, and R341 000 for the DSG, but only in Europe. Sorry.
