JOHANNESBURG, Gauteng - Moto Guzzi's new California range, new1400 Custom and California 1400 Touring, is available from the Cayenne group in South Africa.
Co-owner of the Cayenne group, Craig Langton, said: "Everything on the California Touring and California Custom help to combine the best of the latest and most advanced technology with the classic style and elegance of the Moto Guzzi brand.
“There is a new powerful 1400cc engine in the classic transversal V2 architecture, ride by wire, cruise control, anti-lock braking system and traction control are among the key features on the new models, at launch price from R199 900."
The new California 1400 is, says the bike maker, the world's first custom bike with traction control coupled with a twin-cylinder 1380cc Moto Guzzi V2 engine capable of 71kW/120Nm.
The Moto Guzzi 1400 Custom is the most dynamic and stimulating expression of the California range, says the bike make. The California 1400 Custom, unlike its Touring sibling, does not represent a homage to the 40-year dynasty of the California, but rather "is a conceptually different bike which possesses a more transversal style with various stylistic contaminations, summing them up in an essential and muscular design", says Moto Guzzi.

It's engine mappings allow the rider to choose engine characteristic which best suits his/her riding style, the route or the weather conditions. It's transmission is now a six speed instead of five while the clutch goes from a twin-disc to a new dry single disc with built in flexible coupling and reduced activation load.
The final drive has been completely redesigned and satisfies the new need to transfer, with maximum fluidity and comfort, the enormous torque of the engine, in addition to boasting an elastic aspect with significantly more modern and technological aesthetics.
The Cayenne group range of the popular California Touring and Super Touringmodels comes in five different versions the California 1400, the Custom, Touring 2013 and Super Touring 2015, the popular Stone model (Italian Army Replica).
It's priced from R199 900.
Langton said: "No two of the same looking Moto Guzzi California’s will be sold or leave the show room. Customers can all have their very own exclusive special looking California model.
“We have set aside a budget for the Guzzi package, which can include various options.
