New Korando focused on 'SA buyers' needs'

Cape Town - SsangYong has launched an updated Korando in South Africa.

At the same time, Mahindra SA, which distributes SsangYong vehicles locally, has streamlined the model offering, focusing on a single petrol-engined derivative equipped with a comprehensive list of standard features.

Design tweaks

The new Korando 4x2 MT Petrol has style tweaks in the form of new LEDS, new black-mesh grille, curved lower air intake, tinted glass and new foglights.

The SUV has new 17" alloy rims (up from 16" alloys), colour-coded side-mirrors (with integrated indicators) and low-profile roof rails.

A front scuff plate, sill extenders and the rear apron are finished in contrasting black. At the rear it has new taillights, spoiler and chromed boot strip.

Finally, tinted side glass provides security, privacy and heat protection.

Inside, it gains new cloth upholstery and metallic accents. Its standard equipment list has been extended to include power windows, six-speaker audio system and cruise control.

The audio system has MP3, Bluetooth, USB and Aux connectivity. Rear parking assistance is included. The rear bench can split 60/40 split.

Korando is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol capable of 110kW/197Nm mated to a six-speed manual. Fuel consumption is rated at 7.51 litres/100km.

In terms of safety it's equipped with dual airbags, ABS and an alarm/immobiliser.

The retail price is R324 995, which includes a five-year or 150 000km warranty, AA roadside support for the same period, and a five-year or 100 000km service plan.
