The all-new VW Golf GTI is about to hit the road in South Africa. Wheels24 had a sneak preview of the newcomer.
With the official launch of the GTI happening this week, we bring you an exclusive video review of VW’s hottest hatch. On Thursday Wheels24 journalist Lance Branquinho will share his driving impressions of the car, after putting it through its pace at Kyalami.
Though the design changes are subtle, VW has pulled out all the stops to ensure that the sixth-generation GTI is a sizzler deluxe.
Like the Scirocco the Golf GTI comes with Adaptive Chassis Control (ACC), which allows the driver to switch the suspension’s pneumatic dampers between “Comfort”, “Normal” and “Sport” modes.
Performance comes from VW’s 2-litre TFSI engine with a power output of 155kW @ 5 100 r/min and a torque figure of 280 Nm @ 1 800 r/min. VW claims it goes from 0-100km/h in 6.8 seconds reaching a top speed of 240 km/h.
