This is Mitsubishi's new Outlander
The latest generation Outlander is completely new and will take a fresh aim at cars such as the Subaru Forester.
It comes with a new platform which Mitsubishi claims results in better crashworthiness and greater rigidity.
Under the bonnet is a new 2.4-litre 16-valve DOHC MIVEC engine while the power is driven to the wheels via a six-speed CVT transmission.
There are a number of new technologies on the car and it comes with Mitsubishi's latest All Wheel Control (AWC).
It also uses Mitsubishi's electronically controlled 4-wheel-drive system that continuously distributes front/rear wheel drive torque in an optimal way according to conditions. A dial selector gives the driver the choice of three drive modes: 2WD, 4WD AUTO and 4WD LOCK.
There is also ASC, which provides automatic and integrated control of braking force, engine output, CVT and the electronically controlled 4WD when system sensors detect an unusual change in vehicle attitude or behaviour.
The system prevents the vehicle sliding sideways as a result of sudden steering inputs or loss of traction on a slippery surface.
ASC also features a traction enhancement system that controls wheel spin when moving off on snow-covered or other low-friction surfaces.
