Based on the same platform as the next-generation Terios 4x4, the Costa is an open sided four-seater with a roll-back roof that's just great for those sunny days when you just want to get out and relax.
Shown at the Tokyo Motor Show, it features funky functional styling, and is powered by a 43 kW turbo-charged 660 cc three-cylinder engine.
Coupled with an all-up weight of just 750 kg, the Costa combines good performance with great economy.
There are no doors, but passengers are protected by lift-up side armrests that double as side restraints.
Daihatsu hasn't announced any plans to build the Costa - but its recent history has shown that most of its concepts eventually make it to the production line.
