The new Porsche 911 Carrera GTS in Coupe and Cabriolet body styles.
It’s not quite the GT3 but Porsche’s new 911 Carrera GTS promises good fun. Think 304kW worth and a top speed of 306km/h.
The new GTS is available in Coupe and Cabriolet body styles and is said to take the 911 nameplate ever closer to the headlining 327kW 911 GT3.
It uses a 304kW version of Porsche's 3.8-litre flat-six with peak torque of 420 Nm.
A choice of six-speed manual or seven-speed PDK is offered. Compared with the Carrera S, the top speed rises by 4km/h to 306km/h, while acceleration from 0-100km/h in the fully kitted GTS Coupe with PDK is a tenth faster at 4.2sec.
Showing off
However, don’t be fooled by the crazy figures the latest 911 model
generates – it’s fitted with Porsche Intelligent Performance and is as
efficient as the Carrera S, Porsche claims. Figures of 10.2 litres/100 km and
240g/km are quoted for fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
Furthermore, the GTS’s track is 44mm wider than that of the Carrera to give it a wider back that really shows off its rear-engine layout.
GTS models also have a SportDesign front apron, special side skirts – both black – and Carrera GTS detailing on the doors and rear lid, painted either black or silver. In similar vein, the interior is dominated by black leather and alcantara.
The new 911 Carrera GTS will have its world debut at the forthcoming Paris motor show.
Wheels24 will be at the event to bring you the latest coverage.
