The Kia Sport concept car is based on a forthcoming five-door hatchback version, code-named "JB", which will be launched in the first quarter of 2005.
Power for the Sport concept car comes from a special 2-litre, 147kW turbocharged engine driving the front wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission.
The car features a wide air intake and front air-dam, linear grill graphics, sleek profile, prominent wheel arches, wide 18-inch diameter five-spoke alloy wheels, dual exhausts, sweeping rear lamp clusters, bold exterior color and a striking roof-top aerodynamic wing.
According to Kia the interior styling is very much driver-oriented. There is a mix of leather and metal creating a sporty look. Yellow and dark grey leather is featured on the seats, door trims and centre console.
Light gleams from the metal finish of the center fascia, with its satellite-navigation, DVD player and climate control, and from metal highlights on the gear selector, steering wheel, and center console.
The Kia Sport concept car is 4 150 mm long, 1 800 mm wide and 1 470 mm high, with a 2 500 mm wheelbase.
Kia says that a production version may be introduced in 2006.
